Looking for an El Rey Del Mundo cigar without the added strength, I purchased a box of the new Shade Grown Toro cigars: the first ever El Rey del Mundo to wear Connecticut-seed wrappers grown in Honduras. This shade grown wrapper was grown in the Talanga Valley under cheese cloth tents, which filters the sun’s rays, resulting in a thinner leaf that’s lighter in both color and body. After lighting this stick, I encountered a mellow smoke laced with creamy smooth flavors of toast, leather, nuts, sweet spice, and cocoa. I still enjoy my selection of fuller bodied El Rey’s in the evening, but Shade Grown Toro adds another dimension to my smoking experience by providing the perfect morning-to-midday smoke.
