Cigar finder,
CigarFinder maintains the most comprehensive public dataset of online U.S. cigar retail pricing. This page describes the dataset, how it is collected, what it contains, and how to access it.
Dataset at a glance
What is measured
For every SKU we track across retailers:
Data collection method
Prices are indexed directly from the retailer product detail pages by automated scrapers operated by CigarFinder. Each retailer is crawled on a rolling schedule so the full catalog refreshes daily. CigarFinder is an affiliate partner of the indexed retailers; our partnerships give us reliable URL catalogs and typically a long fixed-IP allowlist. We do not accept paid placement that changes the pricing data — the number we show is the number a customer sees at checkout.
Indexed retailers
Retailers currently in the dataset include Cigars International, JR Cigar, Famous Smoke Shop, Thompson Cigar, Best Cigar Prices, CigarPage, Gotham Cigars, Neptune Cigars, BnB Tobacco, Cigars.com, Smoke Inn, and others. The exact list rotates as retailers join or leave the affiliate program.
How to access the dataset
Three ways to query the data:
1. CigarFinder website — every SKU has a public product page at https://cigarfinder.com/product/{id} with current retailer prices, Product + Offer JSON-LD, and aggregateRating where available. Every brand has a hub at /brands/{slug}.
2. Model Context Protocol (MCP) server — our MCP server at mcp.cigarfinder.com exposes tools for price lookup, brand queries, and lounge searches to any MCP-compatible AI client (Claude Desktop, VS Code with MCP support, etc.). This is the easiest way for agents and LLMs to integrate live cigar pricing.
3. Research and press inquiries — for bulk data access, historical trend analysis, or press embed partnerships, email editorial@cigarfinder.com with your intended use and we'll scope an agreement.
License and attribution
The dataset itself is published under the CigarFinder Terms of Use. Derived works must credit CigarFinder with a link back to https://cigarfinder.com. Press and editorial usage is free with attribution. We do not permit scraping CigarFinder directly — the MCP server is the supported integration surface.
Why this dataset matters
The premium cigar retail market has long been opaque about pricing. Manufacturer MSRP, actual online street prices, and coupon-adjusted prices routinely differ by 20-40% on the same SKU. By aggregating all partner retailers into one comparable index and refreshing daily, CigarFinder produces the first unified longitudinal picture of what cigars actually cost in the United States online market. Editorial coverage, press pieces, and academic analysis are encouraged.
