While this may be a "Budget" stick. I would have no problem reaching past pricier sticks in my humidor to grab one of these. The price of Penn Standard does not reflect my enjoyment of this cigar. But it will ensure that as long as they are in production, Penn Standard Gold will always have a place in my Humidor.

Based on Flavor, Cost, Quality, and my overall experience when smoking the cigar. It's hard not to give it 5 stars. If i were to remove "cost" from this equation, it would likely fall at a 4 stars. But the price point can't be ignored. one of the best bargains you can find.
Currently smoking one right now and felt like a review was necessary. Considering how affordable this stick is, i have a hard time not suggesting this to everyone.

Nice flavor. I personally get bread, Cashew (light), and....almost a creamy unsweetened coffee through the first 2/3. the last third i get toast and the nutty notes start to stick out more.
I've smoked well over 750 of Raymond Pages cigars. That includes about 400 of the Penn Standard Broadleaf, which I really enjoy.

I bought two six cigar samplers of these Gold Standards. I put them down for a month before trying a few. They're great looking and well made. Great draw and a good burn. The flavor profile is where I part ways with this one. These have a harsh note to them and they actually irritate my mouth when smoking them. The harshness overwhelms whatever else is in the flavor profile. This is the first Pages made cigar that I flat out don't like. I love a good Ct. (Ecu or CT.) wrapped cigar. My favorites are the Oliva CT. reserve and the JFR Super Toro. Both of those are medium plus bodied with oodles of nice flavors. My normal go to cigars are medium plus bodied with lots of flavors going on. My least favorite cigars are those that taste harsh in any way to me. I'm disappointed that I didn't like these. The Pirates Gold from Pages is way more in my zone. I'm giving it just 3 stars due to the harshness. Sorry to go against the grain boys, but no one in these reviews on the site has given Pages more accolades. I'm aging them for another 6 months and hopefully I'll be back with a better review. Remember kids, this stuff is all 100% subjective. Your opinion is every bit as relevant as mine.
