Recently i bought a few samplers from DaPage which included a decent assortment of 5 different Rocky cigars. Years ago, when the Edge first came out, they were all the rage. I jumped on the bandwagon and bought a bunch of the 100 cigar crates of them. While I truly enjoyed them for their unique flavor profile and nice oomph level, they always had a peculiar taste to me. The other thing I always noticed back than is that the maduro wrapped Edge had a wrapper which looked dyed and almost as if someone applied a coating of oil on them. No other maduro wrapper I'd seen looked like them or burnt like. That was then, this is now.

These Edge Corojo no longer have that peculiar taste to them like they did early on. To me that's a huge win. This Edge Corojo Toro is constructed exceptionally well. It's solid as a rock and uniform throughout. The draw is perfect and the burn is pretty close to razor sharp. In place of that weird taste I got so many years ago, I now get a modern flavor profile. Lots of various spices, a nice bit of white pepper, and a creamy texture. To me, there's a lot going on here in this flavor profile. Best of all, this cigar smokes nice and slow and deliver a huge cloud of glorious smoke straight from the tobacco gods. I'd describe it as medium plus bodied with a ton of flavor. It's been many years since I've had a Rocky Edge Corojo, probably 10 at least. I can see myself scooping up a bunch of these if the right deal ever comes around. I like this Edge Corojo a lot. No, it's not as peppery as most of my beloved Nica cigars, but it makes up for that in other ways. This has to be one of the longest running cigars that almost always has top notch construction way back since the very early days of this label. These were one of the most knocked off cigars back in the day due to their extreme popularity.
