Blackbird’s Glitch line started as a factory mix-up; but it’s one “oops” moment we’re glad they made over there. A labeling error sent one wrong tobacco into the blend, but Jonas Santana and his blenders made hay of it – and provided us with boxes of these nice, everyday Glitch Habano Toros.  Handmade in the Dominican Republic, the Toro wears an Ecuador Habano wrapper over a Mexican binder with Dominican and American fillers. That wrapper is what drives the profile: earth, leather, and a natural spice, while the binder and fillers round things out so it doesn’t feel sharp or one-note. There’s earth, toasted cedar, and leather, along with a subtle citrus note that drops in on the finish. A peppery retrohale keeps it lively, and lands in the medium range. This could have been a costly mistake – and Blackbird could have marked them up by double if they wanted.
