Oliva Serie V Melanio Robusto - Single of 1
Oliva created the Serie V Melanio as a more refined extension of its acclaimed Serie V line, pairing Nicaraguan ligero tobaccos with an Ecuador Sumatra-seed wrapper for a profile that is rich without becoming heavy. The Robusto presents that blend in a box-pressed 5 x 52 format, delivering the line’s signature depth with a polished balance that has made Melanio one of the brand’s most sought-after regular-production cigars.Expect a full-flavored smoke with a smooth, composed character built around notes of cedar, coffee, natural sweetness, pepper, and a touch of cream. Handmade in Nicaragua, this cigar offers enough body for experienced smokers while remaining measured and focused rather than aggressive. At 5 x 52, the Robusto usually provides about 45 to 65 minutes of smoking time, depending on pace. The Melanio name carries real weight in premium cigars, though the line’s most famous accolade belongs specifically to the Figurado, which was named Cigar Aficionado’s 2014 Cigar of the Year. Even without borrowing that exact-size distinction, the Oliva Serie V Melanio Robusto stands on its own as a well-judged expression of the blend for smokers who appreciate concentrated Nicaraguan flavor with a more rounded, elegant presentation.

The V, quite good to me

I like the Melanio Serie V's creamy sensation in my mouth. All that smoke fills my palate with rich flavors of cedar and pepper. Lots of body in this cigar and in my mouth too; probably one of the reasons why it got to be a #1, although the one that won the #1 prize is the Figurado (6.5x52) and not the Robusto (5x52) which some may argue "it is the same blend" (which it is) but it is not the same size. Friends, size sometimes does matter on a cigar!
Gave up on it

After 30 minutes of re-lighting and trying to get this stick to burn consistently I gave up. Not because it was a hassle to keep lighting; but because it tasted like crap. This stick was stored for a few weeks next to my Padron's in the same humidor. The Padron's are smoking brilliantly. I picked these up thinking they might be a less expensive alternative to the Padron. Sadly, not the case.
Decent Smoke

Nothing wrong with this cigar at all. But neither is there anything too amazing. It's a good cigar, smokes great, and pretty good flavor. There are better out there and there are worse. If you like em keep on smoking! or do as I do and keep trying new ones from time to time or whenever you can.
