The flavor was exactly what one would expect in a premium mild-to-medium Dominican tobacco....no harshness or bitterness. Moreover, this cigar is a cedar monster. If you like a cedar flavor, this one is chock full of it. This would pair perfectly with a nice, woody scotch. The peppery flavor was always present, but stayed in the background as a nice balance to all of the woodiness in the forefront. Others describe this blend as having a cocoa flavor, but I didn't think there was much, if any, of this flavor note. However, I did detect a slight floral or botanical note....it might have been my imagination, but maybe an ever so slight clove note?

It's almost ridiculous to realize you can buy these for just a bit more than a cheap, short filler brand / blend. I'm going to continue to look into the other Gurkha blends.....pay no attention to the anti-Gurkha crowd - this Status blend was every bit as good as other Dominican-based premium brands. It can stand side by side with several of the more universally accepted brands.
