Oz Family Karatoba | Toro | Box of 21
Dark and volcanic!Tim Ozgener is no stranger to harkening back to his family heritage, and like with the Aramas, the new Oz Family Karatoba is named by combining two Turkish words. Kara comes from the Turkish word for black or dark, while Toba refers to Lake Toba, the largest volcanic lake in the world. That lake also happens to reside in Indonesia, where the Sumatra-seed wrapper holds its origins. In addition to the Ecuadorian-grown Sumatra wrapper that holds the Karatoba together, the cigar is bound using a Nicaraguan leaf with long-fillers from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The Karatoba is a hearty blend with a sweet and savoury profile, with notes of mixed nuts, maple, saltiness, and a bit of pepper. Great News! Oz Family Karatoba has received a 92-point rating with the review noting: "A dark, softly box-pressed robusto with a flat head. Coffee, chocolate and toasty impressions intertwine with touches of almond paste, spice and leather. Hints of vanilla and fruit appear on the oaky finish. Both the draw and combustion are even."
