Gran Habano Gran Reserva #5 2010 Corona Gorda - Single of 1
Trust the Rico tabacaleras on this one. Gran Habano Gran Reserva #5 2010 cigars feature flavor profiles of earthy bitters and earthen wood from the oily textured wrapper to its musty aromatic qualities. A solid full bodied smoke with a straight shape and aged vintage tobaccos of Nicaraguan origin lend this smoke a spicy smoothness, rich like espresso. Most notably a select smoke at a super price point. The richness of this cigar is reflected in the way it is presented. Packaged in a curved red box with a textured gold foil label reminiscent of a fine cask of vintage wine, varietals include the Gran Robusto, Corona Gorda, the Czar, the Grandioso, and the Imperial. From the first roll between the fingers, the first sniff of the wrapper, you know you’re about to light up something special. The balance of flavors and aromas here are really quite wonderful. The first third was a bit peppery with a bit of cedar harshness at the back of my tongue- but the flavor of the wrapper kicked in and mellowed that right out. The middle third was sublime with rich flavors of leather, dark sucre, a little cocoa, smooth oily spice - which lasted to the last inch or so. The last bit was a bit more muddled flavor wise, but wow what a great smoke. I loved it. Worth every cent. My hat is off to the blenders who came up with this combination of tobaccos. And that wrapper. Great cigar!!
