Cut and light reveals big flavors right outta the gate. A burst of white pepper, cedar, and maybe a hint of butterscotch. The draw is great, as in just right. The burn is razor sharp and leaves a gray to white, tight but not super firm ash. No flaky nonsense, but it will drop off the cigar at about an inch to slightly more.

As I reached the halfway point, the flavors are the same, but the intensity of them is picking up. This is a very smooth and well balanced cigar for sure. The retrohale is heavenly and reminds me again how awesome of a blender AJF really is. Coming into the last of the final third, flavors are still the same, with absolutely zero harshness or bitterness. I'd add that in the last half, a sweetness of sorts, that I can't identify shows up and just adds another level of great flavor. I nubbed this to the point where it burnt my fingers a bit. To sum it up, an easy 5 star cigar for me. I'd call it medium bodied with full flavors. Slight complexity in the flavors makes this cigar just about perfect, for me. I could smoke these with morning coffee or after a hefty meal, it fits both scenarios well for me.

To be fair, I am totally biased, I'm AJ's biggest fanboy. 40+ years of daily cigar smoking and I've tried most H. Upmann's over the years. I've never been a fan of milder cigars of any kind. I know that means I'm missing out on a lot of great cigars, but right from the start I loved heavier stuff. That means I never really appreciated H. Upmann's until they gave AJ his shot to make one. Just wow, a homerun.
These are without question, just about perfect. The flavor profile is just off the charts. Layers and layers of hearty goodness here. My only complaint, the wrappers can be prone to cracking in drier weather. That happens on a lot of Sumatra cigars in my experience. AJ is my idol, and these are a tribute to the man's magical ability to twist a really special smoke.
