One of the oldest premium cigar brands in the world, H. Upmann, has just released their very first offering to feature the distinctive barber pole wrapper design. Called, H. Upmann Barbier Corona, the cigar is rolled in a popular 5 x 44 format using both a golden-brown Connecticut Shade and a darker EMS Sumatra wrapper, interwoven together to resemble a barber pole, thus the name “Barbier” which is the German word for barber. Underneath these two contrasting leaves is an Indonesian binder surrounding a blend of aged Nicaraguan, Dominican, and USA broadleaf long filler tobacco. The finished product is an incredibly complex smoke with flavors of leather, cedar, and cream, when the flame hits the lighter wrapper, followed by notes of chocolate, earth, and black pepper, when the flame reaches the darker leaf.
