Don’t fear Macabre.Black Label Trading Co.’s owner, James Brown, is one of my favorite cigar makers. Not only does he produce creative blends, but Brown always has a box or band I love to add to my collection. Brown is at it again with Black Label Trading Co. Macabre. It’s a limited-edition release that arrives in three vitolas.Macabre lives up to its name in all the right ways. By definition, macabre evokes darkness, death, and a certain unsettling edge; but as a premium handmade, Macabre signifies the death of a bland time. Macabre comes cloaked in a rich, dark Mexican San Andres wrapper with a pigtail cap. Beneath the surface lies an Ecuador Habano binder and premium Nicaraguan long‑fillers, expertly balanced to deliver depth and intrigue. Despite its dark appearance, Macabre pleases the palate with earthy, floral notes. The medium to full-body profile gives a kick of spice upon the retrohale, making Macabre a truly balanced and unique experience. The only truly scary thing about Macabre? It won’t be around for long.
