The Pledge Prequel is the third release in E.P. Carrillo’s trilogy, following La Historia and Encore. It was launched in 2020 and quickly earned the title of #1 Cigar of the Year with a 98-point rating. This cigar is handmade at Tabacalera La Alianza in Santiago, Dominican Republic. It features a dark, oily Connecticut Habano wrapper from the U.S., an Ecuadorian binder, and Nicaraguan fillers. The construction is solid, with a soft box-press and a smooth draw. Flavor-wise, it opens with bold notes of spicy oak, licorice, black cherry, and black pepper. As you smoke, you’ll notice baking spices, creamy cedar, cocoa nibs, leather, espresso beans, and a warm baked apple finish. There are also hints of hay, peanut shells, and caramel sweetness.
