A Spicy and Firm Toro
Sluiceyourgob
22nd Oct 2023
Drew Estate's Nica Rustica has been a mainstay of my humidors for years now. So when this attractive blue label popped up, I knew I had try a box of Adobes. I opted for the Toro here and promptly spent the next month comparing these sticks to the original line.
These little Toros have an attractive milk chocolate brown wrapper wound tightly around some good, spicy Nicaraguan filler. I'd say comparatively, these have more of a spicy pop than their predecessors. The flavors are similar but lighter and spicier, where the original Rustica is more dark and complex. They certainly bear a Habano like flavor profile with black pepper and dry oakiness. Draw is decent, slightly on the firm side and everything holds together tightly with no uneven burns. Total construction is pretty darn good, just a less complex smoke on the flavor side of things than I'm accustomed to. I have no complaints and I'm happy to try a new line of smokes, but I probably won't purchase again. I'll stick to my ever satisfying original Nica Rusticas from Drew Estate.

Notes of spice, chocolate and earth. Good smoke.
