About My Father Cigars

Jose "Pepin" Garcia began rolling cigars at age 11 in Baez, Cuba, learning under his uncle before crafting legendary Cuban brands including Montecristo, Cohiba, and Romeo y Julieta at the Felix Rodriguez factory. In 2002, Pepin and his son Jaime immigrated to Miami, joining daughter Janny. They opened a small factory called El Rey de los Habanos in Little Havana in 2003.

Pepin's first commercially successful U.S. release was Tatuaje, rolled for boutique owner Pete Johnson. High ratings and steady buzz earned the Garcias tremendous attention. The namesake Don Pepin Garcia brand hit the market the same year. By 2005, the family was contracted to blend San Cristobal and the prized La Aroma de Cuba for Ashton.

The original My Father blend debuted in 2008 — developed in secret by Jaime as a tribute to his father. An Ecuador Habano wrapper over Garcia-grown Nicaraguan tobaccos delivers a meaty profile of leather, coffee beans, and spice. It scored 94 points and was named #3 Cigar of the Year in 2009. That same year, the family's sprawling new factory opened in Esteli, Nicaragua — designed for vertical integration from seed to box.

Flor de las Antillas achieved #1 Cigar of the Year in 2012 with a 96-point score — an all-Nicaraguan medium-to-full Toro delivering nutmeg, spices, and sweetened cedar at an incredible value of 7-9 dollars. My Father Le Bijou 1922 followed as #1 in 2015 with a stunning 97 points — a full-throttled recipe in a Cuban-seed Oscuro wrapper with hearty black pepper, earth, leather, and dark chocolate, blended by Pepin as a tribute to his own father born in 1922.

My Father The Judge completed the trifecta with an astonishing 98-point rating and #1 Cigar of the Year in 2024 — an elaborate box-pressed smoke in an Ecuador Sumatra wrapper delivering cedar, leather, earth, and deep spices.
