Robert Levin's exposure to the cigar business began in the 1950s when his father purchased the historic Holt's Cigar Company in Philadelphia. After years running the retail and mail-order side, Levin decided to create his own brand. His decision to partner with Carlos Fuente Sr. and the Fuente family proved transformative — the Fuente factory's exceptional production standards allowed Ashton to scale while maintaining flawless quality control.

The original Ashton Classic debuted with a genuine Connecticut Shade wrapper over aged Dominican long-fillers, delivering an undeniably smooth medley of coffee, roasted nuts, cedar, and cream.
